This week we have an exclusive cask offering from the Caol Ila distillery – the largest distillery on the isle of Islay in Scotland. The spirit produced at Caol Ila is a key component of Diageo’s blends, including Johnnie Walker, but has also gained popularity as a single malt on its own. A sister distillery to Lagavulin, Caol Ila produces both peated and unpeated single malts with a light and smoky flavor profile. The distillery is located along the coast from Port Askaig looking towards Jura and is surrounded by steep cliffs and cave. True Islay devotees refer to Caol Ila’s location as the “secret bay”.

The cask contains 109.92 litres of alcohol has spent more than 12 years maturing in a bonded warehouse in Scotland after being distilled at Caol Ila in 2007. The Refill Bourbon Hogshead cask would currently yield a quantity of 276 standard-sized bottles at cask strength of 57.00%.
